We thought we had experience good cx before. Yes, we had, but none before of this caliber to the direction of New Zealand…this was supposed to happen only at KONG…
Now, about 10 days after having returned home from LEM281, the Perseus-recordings of the “hottest” moments of the magic 24 October have been thoroughly examined. And the results are somewhere between devastating and astonishing. Even between ourselves we have it hard to believe that this is true.
In all 45 NZ-stations were logged, of which 36 never heard in Finland before. Many signals were strong and lasted over several fade-in periods, but some were truly weak – some merely a “sigh”. But with the Perseus, its capability of continuously repeating a chosen few seconds and comparing an identified signal with another frequency stations can be 100 % “identified” even if the signal visits the frequency just a few seconds.
Such ease of identification is specifically true with the music networks (Southern Star, New Zealand´s Rhema and Coast), but also with spoken programming (NewstalkZB, R Live, R Sport). With the good advice from our friend Bjarne Mjelde –“the God of KONG”- we paid specific attention to TOH, when eventual Europeans and Asian station “hold their breath” for a few seconds. Many NewstalkZB and RNZ National identifications came through right during those few seconds !
It was remarkable, how strongly the peak of the conditions was concentrated on the North Island and the northern part of the South Island (with the only exception of BSport 1224) . Europeans were pretty quiet and Asia in general non-existent in the beginning, however Japanese stations soon joining the party.
Upon listening to the medium wave band in the remaining days of our LEM281 expedition, with all possible Asian languages filling the frequencies, it was hard to believe that all those signals just weren´t there on the “magic day” 24 October, 2009… It will very likely not happen again in the very near future…

LEM282
Second and Final Report from the Quality DXing Summit LEM282: the cx may not have been quite as extraordinary as expected, but nevertheless we are pleased with the results of LEM282 - and at the same time we are totally exhausted. The almost 24/7 listening activity took its toll and now we need to use all of our remaining strength to prepare this short report (greetings from the train!). We did not encounter any spectacular daytimer openings or highly directional cx, but the tremendous signal strengths and the clean, undisturbed AM-band kept us wide awake. Even though we are committed to "conventional" receivers, we have a huge amount of recordings to be checked. LEM282 - DXing the way it was meant to be

The band has been absolutely packed with stations, but due to the very general nature and direction of the cx, the antenna switcher has been glowing red from almost lunatic use. But don't get us wrong: the cx are not bad at all and we have made many nice catches. We have had a wonderful time and despite the almost 24/7 commitment to the radio waves we have lived up to our undisputed reputation as the best chefs and sommeliers above the Arctic Circle. LEM281 - last update

Our last evening started pretty much the same as many previous nights. No trace of east coast NA, but directly to the Great Lakes region again with KKCQ-1480 and KFNW-1200 appearing at 2120 UTC with good signals - an incredible 2 hours before local sunset. However, the signals did not develop very much durng the best daytimer period. Only after 0000 UTC the band was gradually filling up with midwest-rockies area signals. The conditions were more diverified than some other nights, so there were no specific highlights in the night.
Again signal were weaker between 02-06 UTC but gained strength again in the morning, still in the same direction. Around 10 UTC the upper west coast opened very nicely with station all the way from OR to upper BC, with AK and HI also joining the party with good and clear signals. Some fading in and out took place, but signals came back again as quickly as they had disappeared only a while ago.
The AS side was fairly good to Japan already from 11 UTC on with all possible asian languages joining them gradually. No trace of any interesting OS.
The stregth of signals started deteorating gradualla around 1230 and we started packing. One receiver was alll the way to 14 UTC, but the signals had already faded to an uninteresting level.
Most interesting stations logged: KVOK-560, KRTA-610 (huge signal), CFLD-760, CKOR-800, CFBV-870, KXLJ-1330.
Time to say goodbye - the sets were left warm for LEM282, and as far as we know at the time of writing this, the going has continued "better than just mediocre".

As a minor disturbance began, signals also started coming earlier. Again directly from the direction of the Great Lakes, but no mixing with any LA. Many stations (such as WQLR-1660, WKSH-1640, KCJJ-1630, KFNW-1200, KFAN-1130 and KFAB-1110) outside the "usual" had audio already 2130 UTC or shortly there after. Signals came and went in fairly short intervals - it was obvious that there was some minor disturbance going on. However, the conditions did not develop to a daytimer party of any better sort. Still, with such early signals, the reordings are worthwhile to be checked carefully.
Gradually, signals in the night got weaker and weaker and it wasn´t any specifically good idea to try to chase them all night. In the morning, again, signals started to be good as the clock got close to 06 UTC. Midwest-rockies, mixed with some MEX. Fairly nice signals for some periods until 0940 UTC, when the conditions were cut like with a knife...
Nothing until sudden opening towards the upper west coast with huge signals from 1230 UTC onwards. Even the GY-frequencies performed strong, but the "quality" of stations tended to be limited to those heard already anywhere between 10-1000 times. For the first time during our LEM-week, the signals kept their strength until local sunrise - and some (such as KTBK-1210, KOUU-1290, KCLK-1430 and KGDD-1520) far beyond, almost until 16 UTC.
Still, it was not easy to find new ones from an area where conditiond have so often laid. New technology (IQ´s and Perseus) will certainly help in this, as we have (or if we ever have...) time to listen "every scratch" carefully.
As we write this at 2130 UTC, signals from the same direction are again coming in, with KKCQ-1480 identified at 2130. One more night and day to go. Well see...

CBG-1400 appeared early, at around 2030 UTC, but the conditions towards NA did not develop too well. Instead, lots of LA started appearing quite early and it was Spanish all over with good signals. NA started to join the party around 0000 UTC, but it was already too late for anything remarkable.
In the morning NA started to stregthen rapidly after sunrise with good signals, mainly from the Rockies to West Coast, once again. But all the time there was more and more concentration towards Southern California and from around 08 UTC to about 10 UTC it was better than either one of us had ever experienced. Stations seldom heard or never before logged came in with crystal clear signals. There will be a lot of interesting stuff on the recordings in addition to those already identified when listening "live".
As you would expect, such fun cannot last too long, and the peak of the conditions was gone after 1030 UTC. Only some of the most common stationswere left with "dizzy" signals. And even those died out before 14 UTC. No Pacific or Asia in general in the afternoon/early evening.
But in all, what a day !

Interesting developement: better indexes, generally worse conditions...
The night started with absolutely no signals before 01 UTC, then some LA, but nothing fancy. In the morning, between 06-07 UTC, fair to good signals from NA, but without direction. At this time with general type conditions it is almost not worth to listen to anything else but TOH and half hours, since local nighttime programming has very little content from a DX-ing point of view.
However, the signals abruptly died out totally before 08 UTC and did not return but at around 1130 UTC. Then one hour fair-good signals towards the Rockies-West Coast, but only to the northerly states, except a few interesting signals from California and Mexico in the same direction. Again, signals died completely out around 1330 UTC. Before that, a couple of interesting NHK-2 from the 1320 break, but no Pacific at all, just "mediocre chinese" as far as we can tell...

LEM281 - 24-31.10 (HAS,HN)
LEM 281 = Hannu Asikainen and Hannu Niilekselä, both from the capital district. Lots of NRD-535´s, SDR-IQ´s and one Perseus.

We arrived to Lemmenjoki at noon on Saturday 24th. The first plugged NRD gave hints of NA with fair signals from the western parts of the U.S. However just the usual stuff, as far as we could determine while unpacking and installing our rigs.
Gradually we got the technical side somewhat in shape and started to take a more serious touch to what was going on. We could only confirm what we had anticipated - nothing of true interest from NA was coming in. But stregthening signals towards Hawaii kept our interest awake, even if in the end only the most common hawaiians were logged. BUT, they led us to monitor also the rest of the pacific, just in case. And that certainly paid off. As we noted a couple of the most common NZ st.ations, we naturally started to search for more. And more we heard, which also left the anticipation that "there still might be something on the SDR/Perseus recordings".
When we started going through those, the cold truth was revealed: we had experienced the once-in-a-lifetime opening towards NZ - not a single aussie (except for a couple of the most common ones on the X-band) were noted. But NZ, yes. No logged stations in the lower end of the mw-band, but the further up we checked, the wilder it got (sorry about the possible mistakes with + for first in Finland, these are "out-of-the-memory"):

Another day with pretty weak conditions. They started towards midwest at 02 UT and lasted until 06 UT. Only common dominants. Nothing during midday and early afternoon. 13-14 UT some WA and AK. 15-16.30 UT lots of AK stations (830 KSDP, 930 KNSA) plus some Hawaiians. However, the best AK catches stayed away, blah.

Once again, conditions pattern continued almost similar. Lots of midwest and west coast stations from 02 UT, weakening at 0630 and fading out totally by 0730 UT. One-hour conditions to west coast at 0930. AK and HI twice during afternoon in half hour portions. 4QD Emerald at 16 UT.Previous night was freezing cold (-29°), first day with bright sunshine during this expedition.Little birds in trees announced the joy of increasing daylight after dark winter! Crows have returned and were "singing" too. When writing this report in the evening, worrying sights of distant northern lights around northern sky...

West coast and midwest stations from 03 UTC plus east coast from 06-08 UT. 08- UT strong conditions to west coast and midwest, even all graveyard channels were well open (1240 KQEN, 1400 KWNA). However, only dominants and nothing from east coast. All faded out by 1130 UT.
Some most common Hawaiians in the afternoon, 1330- UT several Japanese with strong signals. Unidentified 1620-aussie at 16- UT.
Friday 7.3
02 UT once again midwest and west coast stations. 0430 UT also big lakes area. All faded out by 0730 UT. 14- most common Alaskan stations, 15 UT Japanese stations. -32° at night.
Saturday 8.3
Forecasts indicated high speed stream to arrive from the visible coronal hole and I was hoping it would cause special conditions. However, no such one. Its effects could be heard at 08 UT, when almost all stations disappeared accompanied with increased hum. 09 UT signals strengthened with common midwest, west coast and AK stations.
Anyway, during night conditions started at 00 UT with X band stations, even east coast stations for a while. 0330- UT common stations from the Lakes and west coast. As I was the last crew this main season, I had no hurry to pack things and leave. Turned off my radios at 10 UT when there still were several stations on the band. When driving home in the evening, there was impressive northern lights in the sky!

A bit cold start with -35 Celsius at night! However, good TA DX made us feel warm. Some Brazilians and La Plata at night, AM Nuevo Mar del Plata 1620 being the best catch. NA quite well between 05 and 10 UTC. WBIX 1060 with a DX test was heard very well. Then eg. WESX 1230, WBUR 1240, WEZR 1240, WSYY 1240 and WFAU 1280. No Pacific at all, but many Chinese in the evening.

Wow! Continuous NA from 23 to 12 UTC. Some excellent peaks during the sunrise. Also Hawaii well in the evening. Clearly the best NA conditions for us this season!

LEM 260 Hannu Niilekselä (HN) and Jari Sinisalo (JSN)
LEM 260 started on Saturday, February 16, 2008 around noon with expectations of improving conditions after an unsettled to active period in the past week. Saturday offered an unbeatable chance of getting the listening gear tuned into “full readiness”, as the afternoon and evening conditions remained substantially poor. Just a few of some most common NA west coast stations were noted with weak signals.
17.2.2008: Totally quiet around midnight, some LA and CA with weak signals around 1-2 AM UTC, with four or five NL stations surfacing for 10 minutes – not good, but giving a promise of the expected improvement. In the morning all of the sudden a nice and noiseless one hour opening to the areas between the prairies and US west coast , whereafter the atmospheric bruise level returned to where it was on Sunday. Practically nothing from NA during the whole day. Some 15 minutes of fairly nice conditions to Asia in general, with 4QD 1548, along with the 3-4 most common upper band HI stations, surfacing loud and clear for 5 minutes. Japan gave a bit of promise with good signals levels for some minutes, as well, but died out completely 5 minutes prior to the NHK-2 break at 13.20 UTC. A tricky day, but the short morning “break” moments with SDR:s still paid off nicely with a bunch of A-class stations. Peppered fillet of pork accompanied with Torres Mas La Plana 1999 and goat cheese together with arctic cloudberries and sweet caramel sauce topped the evening. KNRS-570, KID-590, KSUB-590, KGVW-640, KXOR-660, KFMB-760, XESPN-800, KUTR-820, KANN-1120, KWIK-1240, KNND-1400.
18.2.2008: Still waiting for the conditions to open up. No evening conditions, some promising Orinoco in the night, but another dead morning. Only a minor 1 hour opening to NA with extremely unstable signals, then complete silence again in the afternoon. Nice sunshiny days with –5 C temperatures outside. The pleasure again today was the chef´s menu with stuffed mushrooms with garlic cream potatoes, accompanied by Puilly Fumé, La Forge, 2006. José Cuervo tequila has been our friend in modest quantities – naturally only to please the God´s of the Mexican skip. Results have, though, not materialized yet. CHTM-610, KFXD-630, KERI-1180, XESA-1260 and KWKW-1330.
19.2.2008: Another disappointing day. Evening and night completely blank to across the Atlantic. The morning equally disappointing. Not a trace of any NA conditions and when trying for morning Iberians, the result: Russians on 2 frequencies and DLF on 1269, nothing else ! . A 5 minute burst in the morning towards NA with 3 “ actual stations (in addition to such stations as KOMO and KBRW which were heard occasionally). But one of these 3 stations gave a super short ID: “La X” on 660 with a decent signal ! Unbelievable to hear such a station without anything worthwhile. The two others identified at 0930 UTC were CKYL-610 and KXL-750. Some Thai in the early evening. It makes one wonder, where have the conditions taken their way in these times of the solar minimum year…Top class spaghetti Bolognese with the remaining 2 glasses of Mas La Plana while nothing that IB is coming in fairly well.
20.2.2008: Still waiting for something positive to happen. Again nothing in the evening, but for the first time Brazil and La Plata fifth fairly good signals in the night. After a bit of sleep, when waking up in the morning before 8 local time, the band was full with NA stations from the prairies, however accompanied by a strong atmospheric “hum”. In 15 minutes the stations started gradually fading outand in an hour the band was empty again. Late in the afternoon some AK and HI with nice signals, but no super-cx. Asia mainly Thai and other uninteresting (?). Wienerschnizel with South African red. R Murial-1290 and R Belgrano-1510 (with supersignals), KLAM-1450.
21.2.2008: The evening started more promising than any of the previous ones. Tiny signals from the most common NL-NS stations started gradually coming in to a more silent MW-band around midnight. Soon VEN-Caribbean stations took over and were well audible all night. Just some isolated NA at night but as the morning came, we had moved to “more normal” conditions. Nothing spectacular, but a handful of nice stations and gratifying was to note that also the GY-frequencies held stations on an uninterrupted manner all morning, from all over the NA, but mostly from the rockies direction. The stations gradually faded out before mid-day and never came back. The afternoon was again totally blank to practically all worthwhile directions, so something is still “wrong”. ZIZ-555, tent. St. Vincent-700 (IQ-recordings haven't been checked out yet), KTNN-660, KGHF-1350, KBLJ-1400, KPTO-1440, KVSI-1450, KMRI-1550.
23.3.2008: Our last chance. We took it seriously and had tortillas with José Cuervo tequila for dinner. The mornings conditions were compared with Tuomo Ahonen, who had sniffed the morning´s conditions and arrived in Enontekiö for a couple of nights for DX´ing. The distance to Lemmenjoki is only some 100+ kilometres but substantial differences in the rhythm of fading and audible stations were noted, in spite of practically the same length and direction of the east coast antennas.
No evening stations from a cross the Atlantic were audible, once again. However, around midnight local time, first NA were noted and soon lots of Puerto Ricans and Venezolanos accompanied them. Gradually, some time after 0100 UTC NA stations started taking over and around 0200 the MW band was already in a promising speed. In the next hour the conditions kept on improving and thereafter the skies opened: signals were huge from all over the NA, with perhaps exception of the extreme West Coast. In addition, we had obviously succeeded in flattering the MEX-gods, since together with the NA signals. NA and Mexican stations were heard both in quantity and quality unexperienced by either of us ever before in our combined history of 68 years of DX´ing.
Then, the conditions behaved as had been the rule this week: in half and hour, the MW band died out completely around 0700 UTC. It is gratifying to end this blog by saying that this last night made the week for us and there will be a lot of work to thoroughly examine all the sound files to get a full understanding of what this rewarding morning gave us. We will do our best to provide the first insights to the list of stations logged.

LEM259: 9-15.2.2008 (HJK, JJK)
9.2.2008 Saavuimme Lemmenjoelle puolenpäivän jälkeen ja kävimme tervehtimässä Kristiinaa. Jenkkiputki oli jonkin aikaa auki hyvästikin, mutta totutteluksi tämä iltapäivä meni ennen kuin säädöt saatiin kohdalleen. KJRB-790 oli ensimmäinen idattu asema. KTIX-1240, KRLC-1350, KSPZ-980. Myöhemmin aasialaisia Tien Sheng 1314, Han Sheng 684 ja sokerina pohjalla RRI Singaraja 1080.
10.2.2008 Yöllä Radio Perú, Juliaca 1320 ja Nationwide Radio 700 tentatiivisena. Aamunousulla melko tavallisia jenkkejä WKSH-1640.15 ja WCHB-1200, iltapäivällä CIOR-1400 ja KMAS-1030. Kelit romahtivat.
11.2.2008 Yöllä laplatalaisia LRA2 Radio Nacional Viedma-1150. Yksi jenkkikin rupukuuluvuudella: KTOE-1420. Romania-osasto otettiin avuksi (Radio Constanta 1530), lisäksi kuulimme mm. Radio Zvezda 1440 ja Groot Nieuws Radio 1008 huippukuuluvuuksilla. Iltapäiväkiinalaiset pelastivat tilanteen: Shanghai Dongfang BS 1422, Shaanxi Traffic 1323, Anhui Life Channel 1395, Jiangxi PBS Satellite 1350.
12.2.2008 ei paljon parempaa NA-suunnalta – yöllä KBGG-1700 ja aamunousulla KZTS-1280, KLIN-1400, KTOP-1490, WONX-1590. Magyar Muravideki Radio 558, Radio Plovdiv 648 ja Radio Oltenia 1314 kertovat paremmin kelien suunnasta. Iltapäivällä kiinalaiset jälleen pelastuksena Zhenjiang EBS 1224, Chutian News Station 1179. Illalla ERTU Luxor 1386 South Upper Egyptin paikallisella ohjelmalla.
13.2.2008 Yöllä NA vaisuna: WILS-1320. KBC Marsabit 1233 ja Radio Vida AM 1620 muista maanosista. Aamunousulla KBAR-1230 ja KZZR-1230. Iltapäivällä horjutettiin kiinalaisten valta-asemaa: Mor Kor 1314 ja Voice of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City 610.
14.2.2008 Pientä lupausta paremmasta, torstai siis toivoa täynnä: KTIK-1350 0030 UTC, KDOW-1680 0056 UTC ja muita tavallisia washingtonilaisia samoihin aikoihin. Rádio Globo Londrina palloili1400:lla. Pari kolumbialaista aamulla pastoreineen eikä ideistä tietoakaan. KVVK-1470 muitten tavallisempien teksasilaisten kera. Mutta aamunousu lopahti ennen kuin oli tullutkaan. Kävelylenkiltä tultua bandi oli kirkas ja KWIP-880 ja KWBY-940 porskuttelivat vähän aikaa. Mutta sitten taas suhinaa. Aasia avautui noin puoleksi tunniksi klo 1210 UTC, siitä tosin 10 min meni sähkökatkon takia ja 15 min sähkömiehen juttuja kuunnellessa. DYSI-1323 oli ainut jonka sai analogisilla vehkeillä koukkuun. Parin tunnin hiljaisuuden jälkeen Aasia lähti uuteen nousuun, BRT 1098 olemassaolo tuli todistettua samalla kun idästä tuli parempaa kamaa JORR-738, AFN Okinawa 648 1600-1700 UTC välillä ja vielä loppuillasta Taiwan BC, Sungling 630 ad 1840 UTC. Tänä iltana oli jo pientä vipinää X-bandin 9:llä jaollisilla taajuuksillakin
15.2.2008 yöllä KRRZ-1390 ja XEKT-1390, mutta ei mitään sen kummempaa. Kuvaavaa on, että vasta nyt sai ensimmäisen kerran KDDZ-1690:stä rupisen idin. Varsinainen aamunousu jenkeistä jäi tulematta, vaikka KBSN-1230 kuuluikin. Ennen sitä brassareita, mm. ZYJ491 Rádio Continental 1520 ja ZYJ590 Rádio Globo Santos 1550. Jätetään loppuosa asemista nyt mainitsematta, koska niitä ei ole vielä kuultu ja tuskin enää blogia täältä pohjoisesta tältä reissulta laitellaan. Kaiken kaikkiaan olipa kiinalainen juttu!

Sunnuntai 27.1: Yöllä hyvät kelit brassareihin ja La Plataan. Ei aamu-LA kelejä. NA sen sijaan koko aamu-iltapäivä. WKBN, R Jamaica 700 etc.
Maanantai 28.1: Hienot BRA-La Plata 23-02 jonka jälkeen NA iltaan asti. Kuviot samat, kelit lopulta jämähtää NW-nurkkaan. WGVS 850 etc.
Tiistai-keskiviikko 29-30.1: Sama kelityyppi jatkuu. BRA ja LP yöllä. NA hyvin heikko aamulla. Jotain sentään: 830 R Princesa da Serra SE; 1290 R Brasil Sul.
Torstai 31.1: Keskinkertaiset brassari ja LP läpi yön. Enimmäkseen länsirannikkoa pitkään iltapäivään. Kohtuulliset AK/HI. Marshall 1098, XEUT etc.
Perjantai-sunnuntai 1-3.2: Häiriön johdosta huonohkot kelit. Tänään 3.2 massiiviset BRA-LP kelit 550-1690. Mm. LT43 Mocovi hurjalla signaalilla sekä samalta taajuudelta - eli 800 - brassari R Universidade RS. Tallenteita on niin pirusti kolmen sdr:n ja 8xNDR johdosta. Lyhyt NA-putki 07 kieppeillä. Myös NA-kelit nousenemassa. Ainoa pettymys eka viikon jälkeen on MEX-kelien puuttuminen.
Maanantai-keskiviikko 4-6.2: Erinomaiset kelit pari päivää. Voimakkaat sinkut Brasiliasta ja La Platastä öisin. Aamulla ja päivällä länsirannikkoa ja järvialuetta. Etelävaltioista ja Meksikosta ei juurikaan mitään. Janne arvioi tallenteiden selvittämisen vievän 40 vuotta! (via HS).

LEM255 (HAT HS): Northern lights! Japanese tourists travel halfway round the world to see this wonder, we Finnish dxers are in a much luckier situation, only 1200 km. When the solar disturbance is on an adequate level to let the space wind to bring large enough quantities of small particles to our atmosphere to activate the lights, the end result is simply breath taking.
These lights began their grand show in the evening by covering the sky with a wide, transparent green vail like drawn with water colours on a wet paper. Then, the show was sharpened later on in the night; Against the black sky and bright stars, they ran across the estrade, and performed in all shapes and figures, in north, south, east and west. In the morning they started to fade, but were still visible, like a deliberate reminder of the night. What a tremendous show!

LEM255 (HAT HS). We completelly forgot to mention about our daily menus. To correct this mistake; the menu consisted of industrially prepared foods and groceries, frozen or refrigerated, mainly microwaveable. With food we consumed canned beer (domestic), and the listening session was crowned by a nite cap: Jameson Irish Whiskey (triple distilled).
Back to business. Yesterday evening a few signals very early, nothing fancy, turned rapidly into Great Lakes area. The morning offered Wisconsin and the surrounding states, after which the usual suspects returned (upper west coast).
WSAU 550, WTCH 960, KTIX 1240, KBLL 1240, KDIO 1350, KSRV 1380, KSPT 1400, KEDO 1400, KLCK 1400, KGST 1600.

LEM254 - JPR & JMS - 28.12. - Quite good night with Brazil and West Coast. Morning splendid with upperband Brazilians, eg. 1530 kHz strong (hopefully there is an id on the tape). Then NA all day long, Savannah's New Star 1400 WSEG was the nicest surprise. Weatherwise very strange with 0 Celsius and even some rain (not snow).

LEM254: Boring. Stations all the time from SA, NA EC and NA WC. Continuous listening between 2230 and 1400 UTC but not a single new station. We would welcome some strong flares from the sun ;)

NA from 00 till 15 UTC, but only Canadians and other dominants with excellent reception quality. Between 07 and 09 a nice opening to Orinoco, eg. Impacto 1550 and Cristal 870. LEM247 loggings (MKA)
Finally after 8 weeks I am ready to present my own NA-log. We had two fine days 8th and 11th and three good ones, 10th, 12th and finally 13th of October. Every day something, 9th we had some East Coast.
It was interesting to track for example 660 KTNN Window Rock AZ from SDR-files on 8th of October. First hint was Midnight Trucking Network program at 07.00 UTC, part of the id, Window Rock mention at 06.00 UTC, finally navajo-music 0434 UTC and perfect id after nice country mx 0451 UTC. From records you are able to see where I parked SDR. Because of minimun time, lower freq were very interesting, also 1220-1410 khz is offering four GY-and many fine regional-freqs. I still have a couple of nice UNID´s, spanish yankee on 1290 and Radio America on 920 without names.
Finnish colleaques have checked all the +stations, ANA and JMS were helping me to solve 970 WKHM Jackson MI. TNX! We had not the perfect timing, two days before and four days later lasting expedition would give us the whole World. Now we got the half, Japanese loggins are following after some weeks and that list will be very long. LEM246 and 248 had good luck to Pacific, we had also something from there but they will remain in their shadow.
Telefunken was again the ultimate receiver, the same signal purity in SDR will be very much welcome. 730 KSBU was able to get easily by Telefunken, same for 940 WINZ, SDR was offering the same signal, but not readable. The best choice for ultimate results will be high quality DSP-receiver to parked on every GY and two-three SDR´s elsewhere.
